Today, as people across the globe protest the pay gap and high rates of domestic violence and female trafficking among other issues, we as one humankind stand together in observation of International Women’s Day.
But as there are no protests happening today in Shanghai, OCA wants to let NYUSH know what events are taking place in Shanghai this evening that the community could take part in.
— Le Wagon is hosting a panel about women in the technology business. From 7-9pm in Sino-Ocean Tower, female professionals in the tech scene will be sharing their stories along with practical tips and resources on “How Women Can Get Ahead in Tech” (free entry)
— Vegans of Shanghai is hosting an information session by EcoWarrior about the use of eco-friendly menstrual cups for purchase and a “top swap” (clothes exchange) event. This event is from 6-8pm at Graze ~ a new, vegan-friendly cafe on Changle Lu (free entry)
— Punk bar Specters is screening a night of queer short films that transcend gender and help dismantle God complexes from 8:30-10:30pm (free entry)
And, since this is Shanghai we’re talking about, there are also many drinks deals offered to women tonight.
— Liquid Laundry: 2-6pm no entry fee, free pink beer, beauty treatments
— Goodfellas: a complimentary glass of prosecco and dessert
— Zapata’s: 9-12pm free frozen strawberry daiquiris
Happy Women’s Day, everybody!
